Wilsons in The Snow

Week 6 was a snowy week for most of Europe, most people i heard from where suffering with the white stuff some where in Europe. W200 HCW was sat on the Motorway down near Heilbron, Germany for most of a day enroute to Plzen, Czech. While X400 HCW was in Gothenburg, Sweden with the Army Truck Load. As you would expect in Scandinavia there was lots of snow but no problems!

Mini Frigo

What a lovely little thing. Rumour has it these go as far as the artics of the fleet do, getting as far as Turkey. Can anyone confirm or deny this? How far away from Reading have you see one of these? email me ben@truckblog.co.uk must be a cracking little job driving one. Twin fridge motors, TIR & HAZ boards, emissions and noise stickers, what more can you want from your Tonka toy! Picture belongs to Mr Brooker from www.lorryspotting.com fame.

Tanked Up… Well Off

The roving reporter is back! Recoverd from the airfields of the Middle East with this lovely little sequence from Baghdad Airport. The Streamliner drops off the leaking diesel tanker. The Merc couples up to take the trailer away and makes the cardinal mistake of not checking if he is coupled up or not! Now more DERV leaking from the old tanker. Lovely mix that, airplane fuel, sparks, M/E temperatures and a man with a camera.

S777 RDF

Who knows what happened to this old thing? Apparently it was sold to a dealer last year last July. Ben Evans Commercials were planning to export it to South Africa last October. Can anyone confirm if this happenend or if it was spared and is still in the country? Why is it all the old trucks with a bit of history or character get exported?? Their should be a rest yard for all well known old trucks to retire to with a nice warm shed and lots of thick oil to top up with! This truck was at one point the only non Volvo on the Davies fleet, new in 1999. Can you shed any light on S777’s where abouts? Email me at ben@truckblog.co.uk thanks to Y111RDF from www.trucknetuk.com for the pictures.

Now thats a Rope!

We were asked to go and collect 4 Grommet Slings from Rotterdam and take them to Hartlepool. So we weren’t sure what to expect when we were told they were made of rope! We did think they must be steel rope but we hadn’t realised how large they would be!  Looks like a big old snake coiled up on the trailer. 4 loads in total.

MAN A-Live!!

I think i am being sent a secret message by the MAN man! It seems all roads at the moment lead to a little fella some where in Europe. I was trying to work out the shortest route to Hassleholm, Sweden from Esbjerg. Seeing as it is unlikely at the moment i’ll ever get to drive in Denmark, again i thought i’d enjoy the delights of Google Street View and see what it’d be like to drive across the sea between the Danish Islands. I place myself on the map and Bingo!! All the miles of road over the sea and i land 8ft from the front of another little Ger-MAN. I’m going to have to start a fan club for them or some thing! The boss keeps on about the company getting a new 7.5 Tonner tilt so we can have a flat or a little covered beast, this is my solution, GW you know it makes sense!

O2 for V8

Rumour has it that image concious boss Graham Wilson has penciled a deal with company communications supplier, O2, to re-paint one of the company trucks with a joint O2 and England Rugby livery if England win this years 6 Nations Tourament. So could we see this truck with a new wrap in a few weeks, fingers crossed!!

Ger-MAN (Sorry thats bad!)

Steve Marsh had a snowy week last week (as did many others i’m sure). He travelled down and tipped in Altstatten in Switzerland, then came back up to Essen, Germany to reload for Edinburgh. This picture was taken at Rasthof-Aichen on the A8 near Ulm, waiting to find the reload. Keep the pics coming Steve they are definatly getting better! www.stevemarshexpress.co.uk
